The most important thing for me in the design process is that the garden we create together reflects your well-informed values as a client. To achieve this goal, I begin our relationship by providing you with a detailed questionnaire I have developed, which supports you in getting clear on your preferences and priorities. By reflecting on these questions prior to our beginning your design it can save you considerable time and money later in avoided revisions. It also encourages exceptional communication between yourself, your partner and me right from the start.

As a result of the clear understanding which emerges from this thorough questionnaire 90% of my clients install my very first design suggestions and are pleasantly surprised at how well they meet their needs. They also write a check at the end of the project for the price we have agreed to. 

The most important decision I believe you make as a home-owner is who you choose for your designer, and the design that comes out of that relationship. The reason for this is that while a design costs a fraction of the cost of a project, it determines most of the value, pleasure and functionality. It is common for me to observe home-owners spending thousands of dollars doing things that could have been more attractively accomplished with hundreds, if the techniques were known. In this way, a good relationship with a knowledgeable designer is the best investment you can make.
