As the owner of Mystical Landscapes I have enjoyed answering the question: How can I create my business into the ideal company I would want to hire? - The first thing I've done is stay small and focused on doing one job at a time until complete. This allows me to be there as your sole contact point from your free initial consultation through the design and installation process. It is a wonderful experience to have your requests and preferences respected and this is a lot easier when you are dealing with one person.
- Doing one job at a time until complete has also made it easy to make small adjustments to the job without leaving your job torn-up. Eighty percent of my jobs are actually done early.
- My choice to be both a designer and installer has several benefits for you: Not only are my designs more practical and cost-effective to install, but they turn out the way I envisioned them. I am always refining my designs at no extra charge as I install.
- One of the biggest reasons many construction projects go over budget is that not enough questions were asked at the beginning. It really helps when your contractor knows all the things that are important to you and incorporates those values in your design. I have developed the only design questionnaire I know of and as a result most clients love the very first design draft I present!
- As part of my landscape education I designed and built several custom homes so I would understand utility codes and general construction costs. This, along with my experience as a skilled operator of heavy equipment gives me a good overview of the practical aspects of a landscape, such as driveways and drainage, as well as the aesthetic vision.
